The Hipot tester was designed to automate electrical safety tests for a surgical cutter and cauterizer. The software monitored the complete status of the testing apparatus and ensured that the part was in place, the doors were closed and that they were locked before performing high voltage safety tests.  The operator simply placed the device in the nest, closed the door and the testing proceeded completely unattended. While one nest  was under test, the other was free for loading and unloading.

The simplicity of the user interface is deceptive because it is intended to be completely hands-off. The software interfaced with dozens of I/O points to control the testing instrument and to ensure that every solenoid and lock was in place before applying high voltage.
